Two-Step is not only a classic, but one of the best social dances you’ll find in any dance field. Whether you’re younger, older, or anywhere in between, this dance will definitely get its usefulness once you learn it. Get started with Two-Step 101 and you’ll never have to sit out at another dance again!
Two-Step 101 is the video all country dancers should go through at least once – even if it’s just to ensure you’re not overlooking the details most people take for granted. If you care how you look when you’re on the dance floor, this is for you! Two-Step (aka Country 2-Step or Texas 2-Step) is the absolute staple when it comes to country music & dancing and Two-Step 101 delivers exactly what you need to get started. This DVD is fun, easy-to-understand, step-by-step, and is full of danceable music throughout! It’s designed for beginners, starts with the basics, & is absolutely the best way to learn how to dance the Two-Step!
Two-Step 101 starts with you seeing & experiencing Two-Step to get a good feel for how it’s danced. From there, the Two-Step is broken down into simple, yet manageable lessons that make the instruction easy to follow along with. You’ll soon be dancing the Two-Step by working through several rhythm & timing drills both in place & around your practice area to ensure you understand and feel it the way you should. Next, you’ll get ‘hands-on’ as you work your way through the specific Two-Step connection points & style tips that help make you look the part! It’s easy to overlook a lot of the detail, so pay attention to the “little things” as you go (i.e., posture, timing, hand positions, size of your steps, dragging your feet, where to look, etc.). When you’re ready, you’ll learn & test your skills with several fun moves like partner turns, outside turns & torque turns you can use with anyone & take to the floor immediately. Plus, you’ll have a full soundtrack of great Two-Step music playing through the entire lesson that doubles as a practice tool each time you use the DVD afterwards – just turn it on and practice until you’re ready to go out.
“I think Shawn’s dance instruction is great. I have been wanting to learn to two-step for a long time. I do not want to just go out on the dance floor without some practice and instruction, so these DVDs work perfect for me. I practice in the privacy of my own home… Now, I can’t wait to hit the dance floor. Thanks Shawn”
“Very easy to follow. I really like how you break down the steps for both the leader and the follower.”
“Learning Two-Step is nothing like line dancing and my head is still spinning as there are so many little things we were unaware of. There’s a certain freedom that comes from dancing with your partner and there’s also a certain fear I didn’t know existed; as in I now have to trust him to lead me correctly. This has made for an interesting weekend project for us and we have worked our way through this video from start to finish two times as we are determined to get it down. Shawn and Joanna are really good at what they do and make it a point to show the steps in a way that’s easy to see and at a pace where we could keep up (mostly). We especially liked the rhythm and style sections where it gave us a lot of things to work on and feel before trying it together. The lead and follow section has us a bit challenged at the moment but we are having fun. It’s going to take a little time but this video is definitely worth it as it provides a really neat starting point.”
“We don’t have a dancing background but we are having fun learning the basic two step, and the other transitions included in the training: the Basket (or Wrap), the Promenade (with side step and vine step), the One and a Half Torque Turn, and Sweet Heart (side by side). Currently planning on purchasing additional training DVD’s by Shawn.”
